Fort Collins, Colorado (April 25, 2023) — Rear-end collision injured a 31-year-old mother of two

Jurors in Larimer County awarded $2.9 million to a local woman seriously injured in a two-car crash caused by a AT&T/DIRECTV van driver.

On September 4, 2018, in morning traffic near Crossroads Boulevard in Loveland, the DIRECTV driver crashed his heavy work cargo van into stopped traffic; the plaintiff’s vehicle spun sideways, with the impact causing it to come to rest diagonally on the road. A 31-year-old mother of two was in the vehicle; the crash caused whiplash injury with cervical facet syndrome, annular disc bulges and disc herniations, and permanent nerve and ligament damage.

This plaintiff has since undergone cervical facet radiofrequency ablations, regenerative injections, physical therapy and chiropractic care, with pain medication as a last recourse. Unfortunately, she is still looking down the barrel of lumbar disc fusion (back surgery) at the very early age of 36 years old.

“Large corporations can’t shirk responsibility when one of their employees, in the scope of work, hits another driver on the road. These aren’t fender benders; the speed and weight of these large trucks and heavily loaded vans can cause serious injury if safety precautions aren’t followed,” said Peter Anderson, lead trial attorney with Colorado Truck Accidents. “But big business continues to forsake safety for profit, offering a low-ball settlement that wouldn’t even cover prior medical bills. I am glad that my client had the fortitude to go to trial, ensuring that her past and future medical care is now afforded.”

DirecTV crash stats

Unfortunately, these incidences are not unique to DirecTV and AT&T.  The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says there are close to half a million van and truck crashes yearly; statistics specific solely to “work vans” are not available, but we expect numbers to be a fair percentage of the 500,000.

Peter M. Anderson has been representing those seriously injured in trucking and other corporate crashes for many years.  In the past two years alone, he has tried four 18-wheeler semi-truck jury trials; recent truck crash verdicts & settlements have exceeded $40 million.
